Corey Davis will finish as top-10 PPR WR

Tennessee Titans wide receiver Corey Davis had a lot working against him last season. Not only did he battle some inconsistency, he also had an injured starting quarterback throwing him the ball and an inept backup in Blaine Gabbert as a replacement.

Even with all that, Davis had his best season as a pro, finishing with 65 receptions for 893 yards and four touchdowns. That was good enough for WR28 overall.

Aside from Mariota’s health, which we touched on earlier in this article, Davis will have to contend with added weaponry in the passing game that should lower his nearly 25 percent target share from 2018.

On the flip side, more weapons will make it harder for opposing defenses to just focus on him, which should give him more space to operate with.

That lower number of targets are definitely a concern, but Davis still has room for improvement with less targets. Of his 112 total targets, Davis only caught 65 of them. Chalk that up to what you will, but Davis can do more with less if he simply catches a higher percentage of his looks.

And, if Mariota does suffer another injury that forces him to miss time, the Titans have a much better option behind him than Gabbert in backup quarterback, Ryan Tannehill.

The No. 10 WR in PPR last season was the Minnesota Vikings’ Stefon Diggs, who finished with 102 receptions for 1,021 yards and nine touchdowns. It’s realistic that Davis can match or better those numbers if he has the career year many of us are expecting.

If you’ve been following along with Titans training camp, you know how good Davis has looked. Strictly from the eye test alone, Davis looks like he’s ready to explode in 2019.
