Marcus Mariota will finish as a top-10 QB

While predicting a quarterback to finish in the top 10 at his position isn’t normally bold, it is when you consider the fantasy football world is very down on Tennessee Titans quarterback, Marcus Mariota.

Mariota finished as the No. 23 fantasy QB in 2018 after playing in 14 games and being hampered by an elbow injury for much of the season. As a whole, the Titans’ passing attack was ranked 29th in passing yards per game.

For 2019, Mariota has bulked up, adding 12 to 13 pounds to his frame in order to better absorb big hits. The team has also talked to him about throwing the ball away more and living to play another play in order to avoid said big hits.

Aside from that, there is a lot to be excited about with Mariota as a fantasy quarterback, including his normal ability to make things happen on the ground with his legs. Mariota remains one of the elite rushers for his position in the NFL.

The Titans have also surrounded him with the best weapons he has ever had. The addition of wide receiver Adam Humphries in free agency gives Mariota the best slot man of his career, and second-round pick A.J. Brown will also be an added boost.

Not to mention, wideout Corey Davis looks ready to take that next step, and Mariota’s most trusted target from the past, tight end Delanie Walker, will return healthy after playing in just one game last season.

Protection for Mariota should be better, also. After being sacked 42 times in 2018, Mariota has a revamped offensive line in front of him, led by the signing of left guard Rodger Saffold and the selection of right guard Nate Davis in the third round of the 2019 NFL Draft.

We wouldn’t blame you if Mariota isn’t your first choice at quarterback this year, but if you’re going to carry two on your roster, you’d be wise to carry the Titans signal-caller as one of them. By season’s end, he could be your full-time starter.
