Tennessee Titans who need to start the preseason out strong.

The Tennessee Titans defense is loaded with talented starters, but there is a battle behind the starters for playing time.

For those players and players down the depth chart, Week 1 of the preseason is huge.

Now I can feel you looking at that and being skeptical. Don’t be, all you have to do is look at who shined in the first week of preseason football in 2018 to see why it is important.

Harold Landry: sack

Sharif Finch: sack

Jayon Brown: interception

Young players making big plays.

Brown continued his hot streak from training camp and used this game to vault himself into a starter/heavy rotational role despite having Wesley Woodyard in front of him and 1st round pick Rashaan Evans breathing down his neck.

Landry was a second round pick and was always going to make the roster, but the same wasn’t true for UDFA Sharif Finch. This game helped push them both into the limelight and show that they were ready to play the NFL game sooner rather than later.

This game helped make both backups at EDGE and their play once they got those jobs ultimately made the Titans feel comfortable enough at the position this offseason to only grab a stud designated pass rusher (Cameron Wake) and take a top-5 talent late in the first round instead of reaching for an EDGE.

So with a clear precedent sent for big plays leading to more opportunities, which players could do the most with a big game?
