Tennessee Titans: B/R record prediction better than most, but still stinks

Bleacher Report has the Tennessee Titans winning more games than most outlets have in 2019, but their record prediction still stinks.

There has been one common trend in record predictions for the Tennessee Titans’ 2019 season: the team from Nashville is going to lose more games than it wins.

While Bleacher Report actually gave the Titans a bit more credit than most media outlets, their record prediction for the Titans still stinks.

According to B/R’s Maurice Moton, the Titans are set to have a 7-9 season, which is a simple reversal of the team’s three straight 9-7 seasons.

"Tennessee will carry over last year’s No. 3 scoring defense with edge-rusher Cameron Wake added to the mix. With pressing concerns on offense, the defense will need to put together another strong campaign.2018: 9-7Prediction: 7-9"

Not bad compared to most, but not great, either. It’s better than Sports Illustrated’s 6-10 projection, and it’s sure as hell better than NFL Network’s Adam Rank, whose garbage take had the Titans going 3-13.

Another wrong Tennessee Titans prediction

Moton also fairly mentions the Titans’ slate of opposing pass-rushers to start, which becomes more of a concern now that left tackle Taylor Lewan will miss the first four games due to suspension.

Still, fellow tackle Dennis Kelly played exceptionally well in 2019 and should fill the void good enough, putting the Titans in a better position to cover themselves than most teams would be able to in the same situation.

The thing that doesn’t make too much sense in all these sub-500 projections is that the Titans have been one of the more consistent teams the past three seasons. Even with injuries to key players, Tennessee has been on the cusp of being a great team and/or making the playoffs.

During this past offseason, the Titans have only improved their roster in multiple places, and most teams would get credit for that with a projection of an improved record from a year ago. The team’s offense is better, and it’s defense will be among the NFL’s best this season.

Do the Titans have a tough schedule? Sure, but Tennessee proved it can beat playoff-caliber teams last season. And, of course, the Titans have a tough division as well, but aside from the Indianapolis Colts, the Titans have also proven they can handle the teams in their own division.

The Titans own the Jacksonville Jaguars, and like Taylor Lewan is our Dad, running back Derrick Henry is the Jags’ Dad. The Titans also beat the Houston Texans one out of two games, with the one win coming with Blaine Gabbert behind center.

If you believe in being due, the Titans are DUE to beat the Colts. With all these predictions flying around, here’s mine: the Titans WILL beat the Colts at least once this season.
