Tennessee Titans: 3 under-the-radar players who could make the roster
OLB Derick Roberson
Outside linebacker Derick Roberson could not only make the team in 2019, but he has the talent to make a significant impact right off the bat.
Roberson was a monster for Sam Houston State last season. The undrafted free agent finished tied for the FCS lead in sacks with 14 through 11 games. For a team in need of an improvement in the pass rush in 2019, he seems to be a good fit for the Tennessee Titans.
The 23-year-old caught the eye of his head coach after breaking up a potential fight during practice, which showed Mike Vrabel the kind of cool head Roberson has.
While that isn’t going to help Roberson make this team alone, he has been quite impressive to watch during team drills and seems to improve each day he’s on the field. Not to mention, he’s playing with a chip on his shoulder after not being drafted in April.
Roberson possesses great speed to get to the quarterback, and he has the bend to go along with it. We’d like to see what he can do against better competition obviously, but for now he’s taking care of inferior offensive linemen in practice.
The Titans will need options on the edge to rotate with a 37-year-old Cameron Wake. For now, Roberson seems to have what it takes to be one of those guys and we’re excited to see where he goes from here.
