Chris Simms is a repeat offender against the Tennessee Titans.

Chris Simms: The repeat offender part 2

Simms also disrespected Mariota saying, “you’ve heard me say, he’s a great athlete who plays quarterback, instead of a quarterback who’s a great athlete.”

We beg to differ, Chris. Besides, your opinion of what a real quarterback looks like should be taken with a grain of salt after the “career” you had in the NFL.

A guy who is just an athlete and not a true quarterback can’t throw a good deep ball like Mariota has proven, nor does said quarterbacks often show the knack for performing in the clutch.

Those same quarterbacks also can’t complete 68.9 percent of their passes in a season, nor can they be accurate under pressure like Mariota, who sported the fourth-best adjusted completion percentage (72.5) in that situation in 2018.

Again, just lazy analysis by a guy who gets paid to analyze. Simms simply regurgitated a false talking point used over and over again, instead of looking at what the facts actually say.

Say what you want about his health history, but Mariota deserves to be a quarterback in this league and his athleticism is just a plus for him as a quarterback, and not the whole story.

The reality is, a guy like Simms wishes he had a fraction of the talent Mariota does.
