WR Anthony Ratliff-Williams

Perhaps no Tennessee Titans UDFA had a better first week than Ratliff-Williams, who made a few nice catches on Saturday that got the attention of some of the team’s beat writers.

According to Jim Wyatt of Titans Online, Ratliff-Williams has shown some flashes.

"At receiver, a lot of guys are looking good. Of the group you mentioned Taylor, Sharpe and Batson have stood out to me, and the others have flashed, including Ratliff-Williams. Another unheralded guy, Kalif Raymond, has made a lot of plays as well. I’m thinking six make it. I can get to five in a hurry — Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, Taywan Taylor, Tajae Sharpe and A.J. Brown."

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound receiver out of North Carolina put together two solid seasons at the end of his collegiate career. He totaled 1,719 yards and eight touchdowns combined, with 18 and 16.4 yards per reception in each season.

If you’ve been following the Titans this offseason, Ratliffe-Williams is a name you’ve seen before. He did some great work during the spring at OTAs, and he’s continuing to pick up steam during camp.

The problem for Ratliffe-Williams is that he’s in a deep position group. The Titans seemingly have five locks to make the roster already, including Corey Davis, Adam Humphries, A.J. Brown, Tajae Sharpe and Taywan Taylor.

Beyond that, it’s a toss-up between Cameron Batson, Darius Jennings, and the rest, which includes Ratliff-Williams. That’s going to be a tough group to crack, but it’s entirely possible Ratliff-Williams ends up on the practice squad and eventually gets on the field at some point.

UPDATE: After this article was written, Cameron Batson was placed on IR, so that will make the competition for that last receiver spot a bit more open.

One thing that could help the North Carolina’s chances of making the roster outright would be his ability to make a dent in special teams. Ratliff-Williams is an intriguing prospect nonetheless, and we’d love to see more of him down the road in some form or fashion.
