Loser: Austin Johnson

I really feel bad for Austin Johnson because I would have sworn that he would have been so much better than this coming out of college.

His final year he had 15 TFLs and 6.5 sacks in a pretty talented Big 10, so you really expected that to translate to the NFL. However, every game that comes and goes makes it look more and more likely that Bob Shoop was just a mastermind defensively.

I think there is still a way to reclaim his career at some point, but so far it is just really hard to see what he does better than anyone else on the team.

Obvious run down? DaQuan Jones and Matt Dickerson are probably the best non-Casey or Simmons DL to put out there.

Passing downs? Brent Urban and kicking Sharif Finch inside both look like better options to get some upfield pass rush or get in passing lanes.

I think it is fair to question if he and guys like Dickerson are actually fighting for that last spot on the roster despite the difference in their contracts.
