Winner: Brent Urban

Here is something I didn’t expect to type when the signing was announced, Brent Urban seems like he is going to get a lot of playing time this year.

While I don’t think he is Jurrell Casey-like in his versatility, I do think that he can play a few spots on the DL. Anywhere on the 3-man front seems like a possibility and as a 3-tech in a 4-man front should be a good spot for him.

Ideally, he is a guy who comes in as a 5-tech and then kicks inside for the “diamond” package where you have two 3-techs and two EDGE rushers, with a linebacker walked down over the center.

His length and ability to get in the backfield could make him a big obstacle to avoid or to throw around in that sort of situation and taking away quick reads is essential for getting sacks.

Believe it or not, he may be the third best DL the team has right now and with Jurrell Casey and Jeffery Simmons out, he is going to get a lot of chances to prove what he can do in the preseason.
