Nate Davis vs. Kevin Pamphile for RG

One of the few position battles the Tennessee Titans will have at camp, right guards Nate Davis and Kevin Pamphile will be competing against one another for a starting spot.

The veteran Pamphile played in just three games last season before being placed on injured reserve late in September. Before that, Pamphile played well and looked to be making an impact for the Titans at tackle, however his natural position is at the guard spot.

Davis was a third-round pick of the Titans in the 2019 NFL Draft after a mostly impressive college career. The Charlotte product should be an asset in run blocking right off the bat, but could use a bit more development in pass protection.

It’s in pass protection where Pamphile might have an edge over Davis considering the Titans will put an emphasis on protecting Mariota better this season. Of course, there is a good chance Davis has improved his lateral quickness in pass protection, which would give him an upper hand.

Even if Pamphile does edge-out Davis in camp, the rookie will be breathing down his neck the entire season. Should Davis win the starting job, Pamphile has the versatility to serve as depth all along the offensive line.

This battle is far from decided, though. However it shakes out, the Titans seem to be in a win-win situation at the right guard spot.
