The Tennessee Titans have been given the eighth-best chance to win a Super Bowl among teams who have never won the big game.

The Tennessee Titans are one of 12 teams in the NFL currently who do not have a Super Bowl victory. So, where does this 2019 team rank among Super Bowl-less franchises going into this season?

NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus was asked which team has the best chance to win a Super Bowl this season and compiled a list of all teams that fall into that category. The Titans came in eighth.

The list is as follows, per Hanzus:

12) Arizona Cardinals

11) Buffalo Bills

10) Detroit Lions

9) Cincinnati Bengals

8) Tennessee Titans

7) Carolina Panthers

6) Cleveland Browns

5) Jacksonville Jaguars

4) Atlanta Falcons

3) Houston Texans

2) Minnesota Vikings

1) Los Angeles Chargers

Here’s Hanzus’ write-up on the matter:

"That’s not a bad list … at all! The Texans, Vikings and Chargers are all legit title contenders. If a couple things fall their way, the same can be said about the Falcons and Jaguars. You don’t need me to tell you the Browns have the talent to make a run into January and beyond. You’ll even find people outside of Charlotte and Nashville who believe the Panthers and Titans are threats. As for fans in Cincinnati, Detroit, Buffalo and Arizona? Not yet, guys. Hang in there."

If Hanzus has found people outside of Nashville who think the Titans can go far this season, please point us in their direction. We haven’t seen them, aside from FOX Sports’ Colin Cowherd, of all people.

Here we go again with the Jaguars getting the benefit of the doubt more than the Titans. The Jaguars were an unmitigated disaster with Super Bowl expectations last season and have done little to improve their roster, outside of the signing of quarterback Nick Foles.

Of these 12 teams, only four of them finished with a winning record. That would be the Chargers, Vikings, Texans, and, of course, our Titans. The Titans had the third-best record of that group, by the way.

With the Titans only improving this offseason after finishing 9-7 despite not having quarterback Marcus Mariota fully healthy, it boggles the mind how they aren’t higher on the list. Just another showing of disrespect towards this 2019 team.

The only time the Titans made the big game was the 1999 season in Super Bowl XXXIV against the then-St. Louis Rams. Down 23-16 in the fourth quarter, quarterback Steve McNair orchestrated a drive that fell one-yard short of tying the game and sending it into overtime.

The Titans were a consistently solid to great team year in and year out during the tenure of head coach Jeff Fisher, but were never able to get over the hump.

This season’s team is one of the better this franchise has ever seen on paper. With the combination of a great defense, a top-notch running game, and a passing attack with more weapons than any season in recent memory, the Titans are setup to surprise the doubters.
