Marcus Mariota

The overall health and consistency of quarterback Marcus Mariota has been a big key in the difference between the Titans being a 9-7 team the last three seasons and potentially a 10-win team or better.

Sadly for Mariota, a lot of the issues at quarterback aren’t his fault.

He’s dealt with injuries throughout his career, but has also had to overcome shoddy offensive line play, a lack of weapons in the passing game, and a revolving door of offensive coordinators that has him learning a new offense every season.

Thankfully for the Oregon product, offensive coordinator Arthur Smith’s offense will use similar verbiage to last season, so there isn’t a lot for him to re-learn.

Furthermore, general manager Jon Robinson has finally given Mariota enough weapons to really succeed, and he beefed up the team’s offensive line after it allowed Mariota to get sacked 42 times last season.

The pieces are in place for Mariota to have his best season and it’s why all the naysayers could be eating their words come season’s end.

If Mariota can stabilize things behind center, the Titans could have arguably the most complete team in the NFL in 2019.
