Pittsburgh Steelers

This one is easy for me, and not just because I graduated from the University of Tennessee. The Titans should absolutely make a trade for Pittsburgh Steelers CB, Cam Sutton.

Sutton was one of the best cornerbacks in college football when healthy. Probably equally as important as the tape, he graded out as a perfect fit for what Jon Robinson looks for in a cornerback in terms of athleticism and production.

Those marks are really hard to hit, but somehow Sutton was one of the few that made it past all of the filters.

You may be thinking that I am crazy to consider adding a cornerback to this roster right now, and that is a fair point. However, don’t look at it as adding just a cornerback. For the next two years (the duration of his contract) the Titans would have a versatile cornerback and an outstanding punt returner.

Sutton had 30 pass break ups and 7 interceptions in his career at Tennessee, but what really pops off the screen is his 3 punt return touchdowns on 40 career punt returns (7.5% TD rate) . To put that in perspective, Adoree Jackson had 4 TDs on 46 returns (8.7% TD rate) and is regarded as one of the best return men of his era.

This would give Tennessee a pure punt returner who also had added value as a depth player behind the other cornerbacks and with a year of good coaching, maybe he could contend for a rotational cornerback spot if the Tennessee Titans decide they would rather keep Amani Hooker as a safety.
