3. Karl Klug

I think the word most often used to describe Karl Klug was “lunch pail guy” and I don’t really know exactly how to take that.

I would use the term “spark plug” because it seemed like when he came in for his hand full of snaps every game, he would either make a play or flash in the backfield to provide the defense some sort of energy.

At times he looked dominant as a pass rusher, blowing by offensive linemen with his quick first step and finishing plays in the backfield. Let’s play another round of did you know. Did you know that Karl Klug had seven sacks in his rookie season?

In the last decade only five players have had more sacks for the Titans in a single season:

-Jason Babin 12.5 (2010)

-Jurrell Casey 10.5 (2013)

-Brian Orakpo 10.5 (2017)

-Derrick Morgan 9 (2016) and 7 (2017)

-Albert Haynesworth 8.5 (2008)

That is a pretty impressive for a “lunch pail” guy who was drafted in the 5th round and who played rotational snaps for his entire career.

The fact of the matter is, while Jurrell Casey ended up being the better player, there was a time where people thought that the steal of that class for the Tennessee Titans was Klug not Casey.

To this day it remains the only name that I can remember hearing chanted in the stadium in the “Boooooo” cadence (Kluuuuuuuuuug) and that is something that sticks with you. They need to find someone with that kind of name again soon.
