Tennessee Titans biggest fan favorites of the last decade
By Will Lomas
Honorable Mention: Colin McCarthy
This one is probably just for me, but for some reason McCarthy is one of my favorite players that I can remember watching with the Titans.
For three years I was convinced that he was going to be the long term starter at middle linebacker because whenever he got in the game he was a magnet to the ball. While Matt Hasselbeck really helped the Titans to a winning record in 2011, I couldn’t help but think McCarthy had a big hand in that season too.
In the first game that he really got playing time he picked off fellow rookie Cam Newton on the road as the Titans went on to destroy the Carolina Panthers. The next game he had three TFLs and a forced fumble vs the Atlanta Falcons in a game where they needed a lot of help to even stay within a score (Titans lost 23-17).
Two weeks later he forced a fumble against the Buffalo Bills to help them win that game to keep the Titans in playoff contention.
Throughout his career he just couldn’t find a way to stay on the field and was ultimately out of the league after 2014, but for whatever reason it felt like if the Titans were going to win a game in 2011 it was going to come from a late Hasselbeck drive on offense and a big play from Colin McCarthy on defense.
