Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons has taken the next step in his rehab from a torn ACL.

The league better watch out: Tennessee Titans defensive lineman Jeffery Simmons is on the comeback trail from a torn ACL and he posted a video of himself taking the next step.

Simmons suffered the injury in about mid-February, and the video he posted on Instagram is of himself running in a straight line. That typically means a player is at about the five- to six-month point in their recovery, which he just about is.

You can check out the video from Simmons’ Instagram page here, however Titans Tape on Twitter was nice enough to share it as well.

Yes, this is just a video of a man running in a straight line, but it also signifies that Simmons is on the right track and the Titans could be to getting their first-round pick back this season.

While this step in no way means he will actually play in 2019, it’s a sign that things are on schedule, and perhaps slightly ahead. For now, a December return still looks like a best-case scenario if we’re going to be cautiously optimistic. Anything before that is a huge bonus.

The last part of the Titans’ defense that needs shoring up is the defensive line, which remains the only question mark on that side of the ball. If the Titans can get Simmons back sooner rather than later, it would be a huge boost with the addition of a talented defender who can both stop the run and get to the quarterback.

Not to mention, pairing Simmons with Jurrell Casey on the defensive front would be fun to watch, unless you’re an opposing quarterback or running back.

Simmons totaled seven sacks and 30 tackles for loss in his last two seasons at Mississippi State. He was slated to be a top-10 pick at worst before tearing his ACL. It looks as though the Titans could see just how much of a steal he was at No. 19 this year.
