Will Marcus Mariota be a fantasy football asset in 2019?

5. Marcus Mariota

Age: 25

ADP: 19.12 (228 Overall) or QB28

My Ranking: QB26

Can Marcus Mariota stay healthy? Can he show us a full 16-game sample size? There are too many question marks when it comes to Mariota’s game.

Countless things have gone wrong for the former No. 2 overall selection, some out of his control.

New offensive coordinator Arthur Smith will keep a portion of former OC Matt Lafleur’s playbook installed, but this will be his fifth OC in five years. Imagine having to re-learn an NFL offense every year for the first five years of your career. That sounds like an impossible feat.

Will this be the year he finally puts it together?

Mariota has proven to be one of the best QBs in the league while under pressure. However, he has not been as reliable within a clean pocket.

This stuff is mental. Best-case scenario: Mariota remembers how to be cool, calm and collected.

The Titans did an incredible job landing Rodger Saffold in free agency, and as I mentioned before, addressing the right guard position by drafting Nate Davis was a huge win. If he can begin to develop a rapport with his new offensive linemen, maybe he can settle in and deliver the accurate strikes of which we know he’s capable.

I’m banking on Mariota succeeding. In 2019 his value is way down. If I can grab him as a late-round flier in deeper leagues, I plan to. 2019 could be the year that begins to turn the ship around, and in Dynasty, we always play the long game.

2019 Projection: 3,492 YDS, 22 PASS TDS, 11 INT, 359 RUSH YDS, 3 RUSH TDS, 5 FUM

Fantasy Points: 255.24 (Good for 2018 QB16)

Draft: Late-round flier
