What are the negatives at defensive tackle for the Tennessee Titans.

Whew, well let’s start with the reality of all of this. Jon Robinson went out on a limb and signed Daquan Jones to a new deal after Jones had the best two-game stretch of his career before suffering an injury.

Well, Jones didn’t exactly play up to that contract in 2018 and the biggest reason that Josh Kline was cut for a bad season and Jones wasn’t is that he had a better agent. There was no real cap gain in cutting Jones and it would have cost money that they don’t have to replace him.

Likewise, Austin Johnson is in the last year of his contract and that money is guaranteed already. So despite not really making the impact that I thought he would, he is still a player who will make the roster because of the cost it would take to replace him.

That is a pretty negative stance to take, but honestly it is hard watching the line get bullied like they did at times last year. I distinctly remember watching the Washington Redskins come to Nashville with more than half of their line starting backups due to injury, only to see them dominate the Titans in the trenches.

In a game Tennessee needed to win, the line almost cost them dearly and something has to change long term.
