Tight end: 4 (Total 16)

Sure things: Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith

Numbers favor: MyCole Pruitt (ST), Anthony Firkser (ST)

Delanie Walker is Delanie Walker. Enough said.

Jonnu Smith really came on at the end of last season. Before tearing his ACL against the Jaguars he had 220+ receiving yards and 3 TDs in his last five games. As a blocker he is never going to be a star but he does enough to where you can excuse him being on the field if he catches the ball like that.

While Smith is on the shelf the Tennessee Titans are going to need a strong TE2 and that guy is Anthony Firkser. Well, it should be but it looks like Pruitt is the player who will probably get the chance to show that he can play that role early in the preseason.

Pruitt knows Mike Vrabel from their time together with the Houston Texans, but I am not saying that he doesn’t deserve a chance to be TE2 with Smith out. In just three games as the second option he did well totaling 5 receptions for 57 yards and a game winning touchdown.

My issue is that I think Firkser is going to be the Titans next Jack Doyle. This is a list of receiving yards per target last year:

-Anthony Firkser 11.25 yards (225 yards on 20 targets)

-MyCole Pruitt 9.23 yards (102 yards on 11 targets)

-Jonnu Smith 8.60 yards (258 yards on 30 targets)

-Delanie Walker 7.43 yards (52 yards on 7 targets)

Firkser did the most with his opportunity in 2018 and it seems like he has the combination of upside and proven dependability that you would want in a third tight end. This could end up being one of the less talked about but more interesting positional battles.
