6. Jeffery Simmons DT, Mississippi State

Snaps: 120

If the Tennessee Titans are patient and can find ways to save his roster spot after his time on PUP is up, then they could get a reward down the stretch with their first round pick.

I wrote earlier that there is some recent historical precedent to suggest that Simmons could come back during the BYE week. If so, that would be huge for the Titans but even then I am not projecting him for a huge season.

Where he fits:

When/if he is healthy, Simmons has a chance to be the most talented defensive tackle the Titans have had since Albert Haynesworth (not named Jurrell Casey). He is a mauler who wins with overwhelming power, explosiveness and anger at the point of attack.

However, this year the Titans need to think of him as the DT3 when healthy. He needs to come in on sub packages as a 1-tech on pass rush downs. This will help mitigate his lack of conditioning and give him an easy transition to the NFL.

So if you think of him like that you probably are only get him about 20 snaps per game, which is why he is so low on this list.

This was the deal when he was drafted, you get a talented player who can change your team but to do that you have to have patience and probably make some concessions and keep just 52 on the roster for much of the year.
