Round 3, pick 82: Jace Sternberger TE, Texas A&M

Tennessee Titans connection: Private workout

I don’t think the Tennessee Titans really need another tight end, but they did take a few through private workouts and they are a lot of guys that should go somewhere between 50-120. That tells me that they think there is going to be a guy they like in that range, so why not Sternberger?

Sternberger isn’t a freak athletically, but he has some really nice hands and when I watched him I saw someone that should be able to be a real factor on an NFL offense.

He has the size to develop into a blocker if that is what the Titans want, but for right now he is a solid route runner and he was very productive last year with 10 TDs and over 17 yards per reception.

The Titans are still going to look at Jonnu Smith as the heir apparent to Delanie Walker, and in fairness to him he really did do well down the stretch until he got hurt against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Still, last year the Titans saw how a missing a few guys can tank that offense. Maybe having a third viable tight end makes a lot of sense especially with Anthony Firkser still developing as a potential H-back type player.
