3rd round, pick 72: Taywan Taylor WR, Western Kentucky

Grade: C

I wasn’t a fan of Taywan Taylor predraft, but not because he was bad or anything I just didn’t see the lofty expectations that some did. I will say he has been more than what I thought, but that is when he is playing well.

It seems like there are stretches that sometimes last full games where he just isn’t making an impact on this team. I don’t know whose shoulders that falls on, do I blame Taylor for not making himself a guy you have to find a way to get 5-10 touches per game?

Do I blame Marcus Mariota for looking to Corey Davis, Delanie Walker, Jonnu Smith, Anthony Firkser or Dion Lewis when things break down over the last two years?

Should I blame Matt LaFleur for not being more aggressive and calling more deep passes where he is the featured target or at least using him to stretch the field laterally with some crossing routes?

I don’t know, but something is just off. He has a lot of potential and I think that a good OC could make him an 800 yard receiver but I just don’t know if he will ever get that chance.
