Defensive backs: B+

This is going to sound weird, but I don’t fault Malcolm Butler for allowing that long touchdown catch against Will Fuller. I blame Dean Pees for that because it was terrible coaching to put him in that position.

For all of Butler’s positive characteristics, he is slower than you would want. Yet, week after week the Titans coaching staff allows him to line up with burners at wide receiver without help over the top. That is just a bad idea, and teams have taken advantage.

Adoree Jackson had his first career interception in this game against Watson, who was nice enough to start of Kevin Byard’s hot streak last year when he threw #31 his first pick of the season.

dark. Next. More from the Titans victory here

Speaking of Kevin Byard, he has been very good and very solid, so I expect the interceptions to come at some point, but he is more of a guy that gets red hot for a stretch and then cools off. Still, Byard while he is cooled off is still a top-5 safety in the NFL.

Logan Ryan did well bringing pressure on a blitz and was really solid yesterday too. No news is good news with him, he is more of an eraser than a playmaker and I mean that in the best possible way.

One more note, Kevin Byard threw to Dane Cruikshank on a fake punt that ended up giving the Titans the 7-0 start they needed. That all-DB touchdown is why this group got a B+.
