Offensive line O/U: 38 sacks

Under

I think this one is pretty easy. Over the course of the last two years this offensive line has totaled 63 sacks, so 31.5 per year. That includes games where Taylor Lewan either got kicked out or had to leave due to injury as well as issues with the interior line as well.

  • While I think that the offensive line may face an issue if Jack Conklin has to miss some time, I don’t think that warrants them having their worst year as a unit (they allowed 35 in 2017) with Dennis Kelly as an experienced backup.

On top of that, I expect this team to run A LOT of play action passes and screen passes. Both of those are tools used to freeze linebackers and pass rushers if they are being too aggressive.

So this year the offensive line has this going for it:
    -Consistency

    -Better running backs

-An OC who has plays specifically designed to limit how aggressive defenses can be

-Someone who is going to call plays out of formations that don’t include having everyone within 8 yards of the center

All of that should add for a career year, not a career worst year.
