Round 5, Pick 162: Kalen Ballage, RB, Arizona State

Kalen Ballage is a runner I’ve been high on since the Senior Bowl. During that week in Mobile, Ballage was regularly torching linebackers in one on one drills. Ballage is a bigger back listed at 6’3″, 240 lbs. While the Titans’ running back stable seems full with the addition of Dion Lewis, Ballage is too good of a prospect to pass on at this spot.

Marcus Mariota has been deprived of a passing threat out of the backfield ever since coming to Nashville. Robinson fixed that issue with the addition of Lewis, but 2017 was the first season the former Patriots’ playmaker was able to go all 16 games. Ballage was so good in passing drills during the Senior Bowl that teams wanted to see him split out wide as a receiver. That makes him the kind of insurance policy that will put a lot of people at ease if Lewis isn’t able to suit up on any given week.
