Tennessee Titans offseason: Full GM mode version 1
By Will Lomas
The 2018 NFL Draft, Day 3:
This is the un-sexy part of the draft where you get your boom and bust picks, along with some really solid players.
I decided to give the Titans some of both.
Round 4, pick 127: D.J. Chark WR, LSU
Chark isn’t the most refined receiver, but man can he take the top off the defense. I think Day 3 is a great time to take some swings at WR. If you miss, you may get still get a good special teams player out of the deal.
If you hit though, man you can get an important piece for cheap. If the Titans want someone who can really stretch the field, Chark could be a great value here.
Round 5, pick 164: Mike White QB, WKU
Is he going to set the world on fire in the preseason? No, probably not. However it wouldn’t surprise me to see him get 4 or 5 TDs in this offense in that role.
He is a nice developmental prospect at QB that would give the Titans something more than “just a body” behind Marcus Mariota. I don’t know if this coaching staff can groom him into a trade asset, but I would bet that they could get him to a place where he could win a few games for them if they needed him to step in.
Round 6, pick 202: Braxton Berrios WR, Miami
Remember what I said about swinging for WRs? Berrios is someone I saw flash every time I watched Miami play. It shocked me when I saw that he had less than 700 yards this year.
Get ready to hear a ton of Welker/other small white WR comparisons with Berrios, because he is 5’9 and (you guessed it) white.
Again, swing for guys you think have a chance. I think he could be a shifty slot target like Cooper Kupp was last year, thought Kupp was much more productive in college.
