Tennessee Titans offseason: Full GM mode version 1
By Will Lomas
Free Agency, Offense
Cuts: Demarco Murray, Matt Cassel (saved $9 million)
-The Titans need to get younger at QB behind Marcus Mariota and find someone that has value as a backup and potentially as a future trade chip.
-Murray has an out in his contract this year. It is hard because he was a big part of getting the Titans back to respectability, but the Patriots/Titans way is to not be sentimental.
Signing: Rex Burkhead RB, New England (3 years, $15 million, $11 million GTD)
-This was a no-brainer. Grab a versatile RB who can catch passes, run inside, run outside, and play special teams.
While this isn’t a superstar RB2, he can do the job and be an effective combo with Derrick Henry. His special teams skills also allow the Titans to grab another RB at some point if they feel like the value and upside is there.
