59. (ORIGINAL PICK: DE Charles Harris) Miami was a staple of mediocrity in 2017 and perhaps the team that most annoyed NFL fans since we had to put up with their boringness on three straight primetime hits. If you didn’t hear Harris’ name much this season, it’s because he only registered two sacks. Instead of getting a pass rusher, Miami could have replaced the long-departed Brent Grimes with Tre’Davious White. But with White off the board in this scenario, they get the next best thing in Humphrey, a long and physical corner.. Cornerback. Alabama. Marlon Humphrey. 22. player

31. (ORIGINAL PICK: TE Evan Engram) The Giants were a disaster last season. Though Engram was good as a rookie (and a prospect that I fell in love with prior to the draft), he was a bit of a luxury pick. In this redraft, the Giants fill a need that they’ve had for decades: running back. Though Fournette was long-gone in real life, any sort of spark in the Giants backfield could have saved their season. Anything is an improvement over Paul Perkins.. Running Back. LSU. Leonard Fournette. 23. player

Haason Reddick. 24. player. 28. (ORIGINAL PICK: CB Gareon Conley) The Raiders underachieved in 2017, and the team’s refusal to fill their longtime need at inside linebacker was a big reason why. Reddick is very similar to Bruce Irvin, and the Raiders would have ended up with him in a perfect world. His elite athleticism would mold nicely with Khalil Mack and the other talented members of the Oakland defense.. Linebacker. Temple

53. (ORIGINAL PICK: S Jabrill Peppers) Surprisingly, Cleveland added a lot of talent in the 2017 draft. David Njoku proved as a rookie to be a high-quality NFL tight end, and his athleticism could eventually propel him to elite status. But with Njoku already off the board in this scenario, the Browns lock-up the next best thing in the uber-athletic Even Engram.. Tight End. Ole Miss. Evan Engram. 25. player

player. 44. (ORIGINAL PICK: DE Takkarist McKinley) Arguably, McKinley struck more fear into Deion Sanders on draft night than he did in opposing quarterbacks during his rookie season. He’s a fine player, but Watt is better. He amicably replaced the aging James Harrison with seven sacks as a rookie.. Linebacker. WIsconsin. T.J. Watt. 26

16. (ORIGINAL PICK: CB Tre’Davious White) White’s superb rookie season was a big part of why the Bills made the postseason for the first time this millennium. But with him and all the other first-round corners except for Gareon Conley off the board in this scenario, the Bills pull the trigger on their quarterback of the future. Tyrod Taylor is serviceable at best and proved in the wildcard round of the playoffs that he cannot propel the Bills any further than he already has. Mahomes and his cannon-arm would do incredible things for the Bills offense, notably receiver Zay Jones.. Quarterback. Texas Tech. Patrick Mahomes. 27. player

28. player. 123. (ORIGINAL PICK: DE Taco Charlton) Considering that Dez Bryant is not that good anymore, the Cowboys lock up his replacement here in Williams. Like Bryant, Williams is a big-bodied receiver who could probably do a lot more for Dak Prescott. He would also allow the Cowboys to move on from Bryant’s big contract and perhaps use that money to lock up Demarcus Lawrence to a long-term contract.. Wide Receiver. Clemson. Mike Williams

player. 53. (ORIGINAL PICK: TE David Njoku) Isaiah Crowell has never and likely will never be an above-average player. With Duke Johnson nearing the end of his rookie contract, the Browns lock-up a second quality offensive player in McCaffrey. McCaffrey’s abilities as a bell-cow back are limited, but his ability to catch passes out of the backfield and make plays in the open field would be a great assistance to a young quarterback (Sam Darnold?).. Running Back. Stanford. Christian McCaffrey. 29

Ohio State. Gareon Conley. 30. player. 55. (ORIGINAL PICK: LB T.J. Watt) Realizing that they already have quality pass rushers and a massive need in the secondary, the Steelers take Ohio State’s Gareon Conley. Though Conley missed most of his rookie year due to injury, he was arguably the second-most talented corner in this class.. Cornerback

(ORIGINAL PICK: LB Reuben Foster) Having already locked up Foster at #2, the 49ers improve their defensive line at the end of round one this time. With Solomon Thomas long-gone to Kansas City, they get the next best thing in Jonathan Allen.. Defensive Tackle. Alabama. Jonathan Allen. 31. player. 42

Cam Robinson. 32. player. 15. (ORIGINAL PICK: T Ryan Ramczyk) The Saints arguably had the best draft class of any team in 2017, and Ramczyk was a big part of that. But, in this scenario, he’s off the board. So, the go with the next best thing in Cam Robinson, who was a quality starter at left tackle for the Jaguars as a rookie.. Tackle. Alabama
