Tennessee Titans

Week 7 Results: Won in OT against the Cleveland Browns 12-9

What it Means: After a Monday Night game in which the Titans took much longer than anticipated to pull ahead of the Indianapolis Colts, most, myself included, expected the Titans to roll over the 0-6 Cleveland Browns in a “get right” game. This was far from the truth. In an alarming turn of events, the Browns kept the Titans out of the end zone all day. Against an abysmal pass defense, Mariota had a mediocre day and missed Delanie Walker wide open in the end zone that would have put the game out of reach. Speaking of Delanie Walker, he left the game with an injury shortly thereafter.

In one eye-opening series, the Browns imposed their will on the Titans running game with three straight stuffed runs on the one-yard line. The Titans defense managed to keep Cleveland out of the end zone, which isn’t saying much, but Kevin Byard had a career day with three interceptions. With that kind of defensive effort, the Titans must win. Luckily, Ryan Succop hit four field goals, including a game-winner. Even though it was a win, the Titans have some serious thinking to do during their bye.

What’s Next: Bye in Week 8 before a Week 9 game against the Baltimore Ravens.
