Tennessee Titans

Week 5 Results: Lost to the Miami Dolphins 16-10

What it Means: Anyone who believes Marcus Mariota leans on the rest of the roster to get wins should watch the Titans’ offense versus the Miami Dolphins. If anything, the rest of the offense leans on Mariota because the team could not get anything going on Sunday. Two suspect calls resulted in a 14-point swing that the Titans could not overcome with Matt Cassel at quarterback.

The defense played well by allowing only one touchdown, but Tennessee needed to get the running game going to win this game. Unfortunately, the Dolphins were able to stack the box with Cassel not providing much of a threat through the air, and neither Murray nor Henry could get going. This was an ugly loss for Tennessee, no doubt, but the poor records of their division foes gives the Titans hope heading into Week 6.

What’s Next: The Titans take on the Indianapolis Colts in an important AFC South matchup. Mariota will quite possibly play on Monday night, but even without him, the team should be able to win against a one-dimensional offense and a poor defense. Indy is 2-3, but they have only beaten two 0-5 teams. If the Titans can not defeat Indianapolis, then alarm bells will really start to sound in Nashville and it might be time to consider some coaching changes because this team is too talented to keep losing to the Colts, especially without Andrew Luck.
