Checking in on the AFC South after Week 4 Results within the division.

The AFC South playoff race became more muddled in Week 4 with a three-way tie for first place. Jacksonville and Tennessee both missed out on an opportunity to gain sole possession of first place, while Houston evened the score. At the beginning of the season, many expected the AFC South to be a dogfight between Houston and Tennessee, but Jacksonville has proven themselves capable of winning games as well. The Colts have struggled thus far, but with Andrew Luck participating in practice for the first time this year, the Colts still have a chance to claw their way back into the playoff race.

Through Week 4, the Colts have been the only team with a consistent performance. Every other AFC South team has been Jekyll-and-Hyde-esque through four games, alternating dominant showings one week with utter failures in the following weeks. The first team that is able to find their stride and find consistency will likely run away with this division.

After four weeks, the standings in the AFC South are below.

AFC South Standings

  1. Titans: 2-2
  2. Jaguars: 2-2
  3. Texans: 2-2
  4. Colts: 1-3

Let’s examine the results from Week 4 for each AFC South team and what it means for their playoff hopes.
