Tennessee Titans: Week 3 Injury Report Against Seattle
By Kyle Zwiazek
Week 2 was not kind to the Tennessee Titans. There were some injuries to vital players, but hopefully most can play in Week 3.
Corey Davis, Wide Receiver (Hamstring)
This is one of the bigger losses on the Tennessee Titans roster. The rookie suffered a hamstring injury in Week 2 and has already been ruled out of the game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday. The injury was definitely big enough to call him out almost immediately. Davis has a strained hamstring that he has been struggling with for most of the preseason. Unfortunately, the first-year man aggravated that injury. There is no specific timetable for his return, but he will not be catching passes from Marcus Mariota this weekend. Look for Taywan Taylor to have a bigger role while Davis is injured.
Johnathan Cyprien, Safety (Hamstring)
Hamstring injuries seem to be a theme this week in Nashville. Cyprien was injured in the season opener and has not made any progress on the practice field. The original prognosis was a few weeks so we should not expect to see Cyprien suit up against Seattle. He has not practiced once since the injury. It will be interesting to see how he progresses next week.
DeMarco Murray, Running Back (Hamstring)
The hamstring injuries continue with Murray. He did not play much last week against the Jacksonville Jaguars and has only practiced in a limited capacity this week. That is concerning considering that head coach Mike Mularkey seemed to think Murray had a chance of playing this week. Luckily, if Murray cannot suit up, the Titans have Derrick Henry to take over the run game. Nothing like having a Heisman Trophy winner take over for an injured player. If Murray does manage to play, he will probably be limited in his touches. Look for Henry to have a lot of touches against the Seahawks defense.
Tye Smith, Cornerback (Hand)
Tennessee Titans
Now we have some good news on the injury front. Cornerback Tye Smith practiced in full on Thursday and Friday. He has a hand injury that sidelined him against the Jaguars and limited practice reps for the young cornerback. He is more of a depth piece than anything, but surely Smith will be welcomed back into the Titans defense and special teams.
Erik Walden, Linebacker (Groin)
More good news comes for the Titans as they are looking to have Walden available as well. The linebacker was practicing on a limited basis on Thursday and practiced fully on Friday. There was not much specified information as to how Walden injured himself, but hopefully he will play on Sunday.
Aaron Wallace, Linebacker (Back)
Wallace was placed on Injured Reserve with a back injury. This is disappointing news for the second-year man who was trying to make his mark in the Titans linebacking corp.
