Week 2 Result: Lost 16-13 to Arizona Cardinals

What it Means: Once the Colts pulled the plug on the Scott Tolzien experiment after only one week, they made the switch to second-year quarterback Jacoby Brissett in an effort to spark the offense. Although the young quarterback managed to get the team a lead throughout the entire game, he didn’t do enough to make up for his lackluster supporting cast, which eventually allowed the Cardinals (a team which appeared to be trying to lose) a way to claw back into the game and force overtime.

Once in overtime, Brissett threw a back-breaking interception that allowed the Cardinals to capitalize on great field position and end the game. This might have been the Colts’ best chance of winning a game until Andrew Luck returns to the field. Their defense has not improved since last season and the supporting cast around Brissett can not carry him to some wins.

What’s Next: Next week, Indianapolis faces off against another one of the league’s bottom feeders in the Cleveland Browns. However, the sun seems to be setting on Arizona, while the sun is rising in Cleveland. After a solid first game in which they hung with the Pittsburgh Steelers, they were humiliated by the Baltimore Ravens and rookie starter DeShone Kizer had four turnovers before leaving with a migraine. Look for Cleveland to bounce back and abuse a putrid Colts defense while clamping down on an enfeebled Colts offense. The Browns should find their first win of 2017 while Indianapolis remains mired in mediocrity.
