Ranking Tennessee Titans First Round Picks of the 21st Century
By Max Dambach
9. WR Kendall Wright, 20th Overall in 2012 Draft
Kendall Wright is the Titans’ only other foray into first round receiving options that we can evaluate (Corey Davis doesn’t count). Wright came out of Baylor as an electric playmaker who held the team’s all time leader in receptions, yards, and touchdowns. Early in his career, Wright looked very promising with a 1,000 yard season in his second year. His touchdown totals from college never really translated with a high of only 6 touchdowns. Wright later landed in Mike Mularkey’s doghouse and barely played in 2016 despite an anemic receiving corps and he has since signed a prove-it deal with Chicago.
When comparing Wright to Britt, there are a number of similarities between both receivers in that they both had several middling years, and multiple seasons lost to injury, suspension, and benching. Where Wright separates himself is that he experienced one 1,000 yard season with the team. Wright’s high was simply higher than Britt’s, which allows him to rank a spot higher than Britt.
