Tajae Sharpe

Less than a year ago, Tennessee Titans fans were more than ready to christen Tajae Sharpe the next big thing in Nashville after years of underwhelming receiver play and repetitive early round busts at the position. The Titans were even confident enough to trade away former second round pick Dorial Green-Beckham after only one year. Sharpe far exceeded expectations as a fifth round pick with 522 yards and two touchdowns on the season, even though his production declined as defenses wised up to his potential.

Fast forward a year, and Sharpe could not have had a worse offseason. He went from being the No. 2 wide receiver on the depth chart to No. 5. He is currently under investigation for assault and recently had surgery to his foot that has sidelined him during OTAs. The wide receiver out of UMass will have to work hard to carve out a role on a Titans depth chart that is suddenly very competitive.

My hunch is that Sharpe will see limited action in 2017, but the coaching staff seems to be holding out hope that Sharpe can develop into a capable No. 2 receiver. Further on down the line, Sharpe might see a significant amount of snaps for the Titans or some other NFL team, but it won’t be this year.
