Edge Rusher

The last and major need for the Titans is edge rusher. This need is really based around quality rotational players that can help out when needed. We will learn more about Kevin Dodd this year, but one more quality edge rusher could help this defense be dynamic.

When you talk production at the highest college level, this guy has done it. Derek Barnett, a three year starter at Tennessee University, broke the all time school record with 32 sacks. This is something that only an elite talent like Reggie White has done. How can you pass up a guy with this much production against SEC talent?

Another big time edge rusher is Charles Harris from Missouri. Harris is an explosive edge rusher and has shown he can set the edge in run downs. Harris is a dynamic player that has been flying up draft boards throughout the process. He fits the measurables of what the Titans are looking for out of their edge rushers.

A small school guy that has been rising throughout the draft process is Derek Rivers. Rivers was a three year starter and team captain at Youngstown State. Not only has he been a leader on the team, his production is very impressive. At the senior bowl, he was able to show that he can play against top competition.

By far my favorite pass rusher, from Florida Atlantic University, Trey Hendrickson. He is a three year starter and a high motor player that really flashed at the East-West shrine game. He turned some heads with his hard work and ability to be side line to side line making plays.  Hendrickson reminds me of a more athletic Karl Klug.

Lastly, an underrated guy that has fallen through the cracks is Dawuane Smoot. Smoot is a two year starter and team captain at Illinois. He fits the bill when it comes to the measurables of what the Titans are looking for. Some draft experts have raved about his work ethic and team first mentality. Smoot is a mid to late round prospect that has the ability to be a role player.

This year’s draft is filled with depth at numerous positions, all the positions that Titans have needs at. This draft can propel the Titans to a level that we have been waiting for. With the draft upon us, I believe that these prospects fit the mold of a Titan.
