4. Dont’a Hightower LB

Hightower is a great leader and he looks like he can be a very good blitzing linebacker in this defense.

He checks off a lot of the boxes, the only problem is that he may be looking for a huge pay day. In fact, I would bet that the Tennessee Titans are probably 3rd in the race for him behind the also cheap New England Patriots and the New York Jets that don’t really have a plan in free agency.

If the Titans do sign him, it will be because they overpay for him which makes me feel a little bittersweet about the whole thing.

Will he be a leader? Yes. Will he be a good inside linebacker on this team? Yes. Is he worth more than a mid-level starter like Minter AND someone like another CB or a 3rd pass rusher? I don’t know.

If the Titans don’t go after him hard I would like to see them use that money elsewhere, but if they don’t have a contingency plan for what to do with the money if he doesn’t sign then I would go ahead and throw the money at him, right?
