What did Shawn Jefferson have to say:

“He is the second coach of the group. He came in here with that attitude. It is good for a guy like me, when a guy like that comes in, he automatically assumes the leadership role. It is good because he is sometimes like the second coach in the room. Sometimes in the room, when I am about to correct a guy, and he beats me to the punch, and that is what you want.”

I am not going to lie, before the NFL Draft and the signing of Harry Douglas in the offseason I was worried about the depth and maturity of this offense. Not only has Harry Douglas stepped up, but so have a lot of the younger guys like Kendall Wright and Delanie Walker.

So when he talks about the way Douglas helps him coach the younger player, it doesn’t matter to me if he plays a single snap as long as these other guys are productive. He might make his biggest contribution to this team, off the field.
