Tennessee Titans: Who Will Make An Impact At Receiver

The Tennessee Titans may have found their solution to their past quarterback struggles, but what about their receiver corps. The Titans have plenty receivers but who will make an impact this season?

The Titans receiver corps at the moment consists of Kendall Wright, Justin Hunter, Harry Douglas, Hakeem Nicks, and rookie Dorial Green-Beckham. All of these guys are more than capable of producing this season along rookie quarterback Marcus Mariota.

The competition this off-season between the receiver corps will be one to watch. Kendall Wright and Justin Hunter both return from last season but it’s hard to think that the Titans will keep both of them on the roster long-term.

Harry Douglas is the early favorite to start at slot for the Tennessee Titans this season, leaving players like Justin Hunter, Hakeem Nicks, and Dorial Green-Beckham to fight for positions on the outside. Hakeem Nicks believes that he can become a productive starter this season in the music city.

Nicks told the Tennessean “[I’m] motivated, determined and ready to work. I am ready to bring it all and lay it on the line, man, I just want to get back in the rhythm of being talked about as one of the best receivers in the league, as I was in the past. I believe I can, but I need to go out there and prove it. No need to say words.”

As for rookie Dorial Green-Beckham he has battled a hamstring injury that has kept him quiet during OTA’s. Green-Beckham has said that he is using his missed time to familiarizing himself with the playbook but in an off-season with so much competition any missed time is extremely valuable.

Justin Hunter is one of the biggest question marks for the Titans. During his time in Tennessee, Hunter has been very inconsistent and has left much to desire from the coaching staff. He has shown glimpses of great potential but he hasn’t been able to put everything together. Now with the coaching staff searching for who is going to step up at the receiver position Hunter risks being cut if he is unable to produce this off-season.

The Tennessee Titans have a stronger nucleus of talent than in years past, which will create an interesting summer and pre-season for Titans fans. Marcus Mariota has received great reviews from his coaches including receiver coach Shawn Jefferson who told ESPN.com “He is deadly accurate, I am just giddy about his future going forward . He’s the real deal. [And] the way the guys respond to him, the way he’s able to go in that huddle and take control.”
