Titans Twitter Talk: Opening Day of Training Camp

Today marks the opening of training camp for the Tennessee Titans at Saint Thomas Sports Park in Nashville.  For die-hard Titans’ fans today is the day that many people, including myself, have been waiting for.

Yesterday was a big success in the Titans’ world because the team was finally able to ink the 11th overall pick of the 2014 NFL Draft, Taylor Lewan a hard-nosed tackle from the University of Michigan, to a deal.  It was a huge breakthrough not only because we drafted him 11th overall, but because we are going to need his contributions with Andy Levitre recovering an appendectomy a couple weeks ago.

Not a whole lot developed today besides the conditioning test, weigh ins, and some interviews.  Personally, I found the interviews to be the most exciting.

I have found myself watching Jim Wyatt’s Twitter account like a hawk today, waiting for every little detail I could get.

A few of the Titans marquee players took to the podium to answer reporters questions including Wyatt of the Tennessean.

Coach Ken Whisenhunt opened the Q&A by stating all the players arrived on time and in shape, the only small exception was that Chance Warmack was one pound over his targeted weight goal.

Quarterback Jake Locker quickly tried to downplay any inkling of weakness by stating that he “felt great in the conditioning test, foot feels great. Promised his foot feels great.”

Wide receiver Nate Washington said the Titans have a “chip on their shoulder” and the team has high expectations for this fall.  Coach Whisenhunt echoed that sentiment during his session stating “this is not a rebuilding year.”  Washington went on to say the team wants to prove a lot of critics wrong this year and thinks the Titans will throw the ball down field more.

As a fan of the team I am happy with what is being said thus far.  I can’t wait to see what the new regime has in store for the Titans. I hope the Titans improved offensive line can gel together quickly to give rookie RB Bishop Sankey to run behind.

But most importantly, I am asking the football gods to give us at least a 12 game season out of Locker.  Is that too much to ask for?

Until next time peeps, Titan Up!
