With outstanding defensive coordinator Mike Pettine leaving for Cleveland, there is reason to believe that the defense will regress. In order to cushion that regression they must add a captain in the middle of the field to take control of the defense. Kiko Alonso is an outstanding linebacker, but he may be better suited at outside linebacker. Pairing Alonso with Mosley would fortify the linebacking corps and keep the defense on track.
