Fansided has released their Conference Championship edition of their 2013 NFL Mock Draft. They have a new player for the Tennessee Titans at the 10th spot:
I’m not as sour on this pick as I thought I would be after thinking about it. If the draft unfolds the way they have it, then this pick could make the most sense. Chance Warmack is still availbale, but Fansided has him dropping all the way to Jeff Fisher and the Rams at 22. As much as head coach Mike Munchak has said the offensive line will be addressed, I don’t think he takes a guard at 10th overall either.
In this version, Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore, and Barkevious Mingo, the three top DE’s are all gone by the time the Titans pick. There’s still good DTs left, but that need is further down the list for the Titans. Why not take the first overall at a position that can help. The Titans play in Nickel coverage on half of there downs and are in a division with Andrew Luck and Andre Johnson. If they could move Verner back to nickel and add Milliner on the outside with McCourty, they would have a truly great CB trio. Not to mention how much the added depth would help, as right now there is a HUGE drop off behind McCourty and Verner.
Maybe having a better man-coverage CB is what Jerry Gray’s scheme is missing? It would give the defensive line a split second more to get to the QB, and maybe take s a little pressure off our ailing safeties. Assuming we can address both strong safety and offensive line with free agency and subsequent draft picks, then Milliner actually makes sense. And I really like the idea of getting the best of any position group regardless of the draft slot.
How do you feel about Milliner? Good enough for you?
