The Tennessee Titans (1-4) face the Pittsburgh Steelers (2-2) tonight at L.P. field. It wil be the teams first prime time game, and hopefully they can turn their season around with a big win tonight.
Offense:
– The Titans need to stretch the field. Other than the Lions game, the Titans receivers have not made big plays down the field. Reports on Kenny Britt are that he is almost back to 100% and feeling good. The Titans are desperate for his big play ability. Look for Matt Hasselbeck to lean on Britt and Jared Cook this week.
-The Steelers will be without Troy Polamalu and LaMarr Woodley, botth are play-makers for the Steelers defense. Without Polamalu in the box, could it possibly open more lanes for Chris Johnson? Woodley’s pass rushing abilities will be missed, however the Steelers still have James Harrison coming off the edge.
Defense:
-The Titans have to contain WR Mike Wallace. Jason McCourty needs to slow him down and Michael Griffin needs to flat out show up. He had a nice hit over the top last week and got flagged. He has to be a play-maker for the secondary.
-Big Ben Roethlisberger is always somewhat hobbled. The Titans need to bring the pressure. It’s now or never for the Titans. This defense has been abused all year long and they need to take it personal. They have a chance on Thursday night to make a statement. Jerry Gray needs to be more aggressive and amp up the pressure with more blitzes on Big Ben. Look for Ayers to come off the edge.
Tonight Tennessee needs to play with desperation. They need to play angry. This season has been a let down and an embarrassment. No more excuses; It’s simple the play makers need to show up.
