Tennessee Titans to Improve Sack Numbers

Today on Paul Kuharsky’s blog, he was talking about whether or not the Tennessee Titans will improve upon their sack numbers from this last year and if they’ve done enough to address that need.

I think they have.

Kamerion Wimbley was a huge addition for the Titans and he’s a great player. He hasn’t been a full-time DE since his college days but I full expect him to be a terror on the line. My guess would be that he registers around 10 sacks this first year at DE. Hopefully we’ll see a fully healthy Derrick Morgan this year and the Titans will finally get the production they drafted him for. Add the additions of DT Mike Martin and DE Scott Solomon and you’ve got a pretty good looking line.

You can also look for more from the linebackers. Ayers struggled in his rookie season but I expect him to flourish this next year. There’s also the fact that with every passing day, rookie OLB Zach Brown grows on me. Here’s a little quote from Brown in an article on the Tennessean today:

"I use my finesse sometimes to get around the blocker to make a play,’’ Brown said after arriving in Nashville. “So for me, I want to prove everybody (I’m not soft). I am at Tennessee and I am going to try and make everybody else pay for passing me up, that is a chip on my shoulder."

Always nice to hear a player bringing that kind of attitude with him. From what I know, it sounds like he’s going to be in the running with Witherspoon for the starting weak side OLB spot. It’ll be fun to watch that competition play out. It also sounds as if Ayers will be rushing the passer more.

I’m dying to see just how productive the defense is this next season, not too mention the offense.
