Peyton Manning Saga Coming to End

After having drug out the process for what seems to be a year, Peyton Manning has put a deadline on his decision. Manning will be deciding where he goes on either Monday or Tuesday.

It’s about freaking time. This has been the longest, most agitating process ever. Hopefully it hasn’t completely knocked the Titans off their offseason plan.

Oh wait… it did.

Thanks to the amount of attention they put on Peyton Manning they:

A. Missed out on signing either of the C’s that they had visit. Wells signed a contract with the Rams after having just visited the Titans. Myers re-signed with the Texans. Both of those were big blows, especially Wells. It was thought that him signing with the Titans was imminent, being his hometown and a need for the Titans. Guess they let that one slip.

B. Missed out on the top two pass-rushing DE’s in a very thin free agent pool. Mario Williams signed a huge deal with the Buffalo Bills while re-signed with the Falcons yesterday. The one remaining hope for adding a solid pass-rusher is if the Titans take a swing at the recently released Kamerion Wimbley. He’s a little undersized for what Jerry Gray has but the Titans should be extremely desperate now. One DE on the roster and the thought of having to draft a rookie DE to start right off the bat and produce should push them towards Wimbley.

The Titans seem to have a good chance of signing Peyton. Ever since the Titans joined the race I have expected him to join the Titans and I still believe that we’ll see him here. For that reason, I hope he’s the same guy we’ve watched torture us for years. If not, the Titans are making a huge mistake investing what will be close to $100 million dollars at a position that isn’t of need.

Turns out people were just expecting him to make this decision by Tuesday, which is still a reasonable thought. Either way, we’re still waiting…
