Fantasy League Countdown – Week 5

Week 5 of the Titan Sized Fantasy League commences this afternoon, and in the best traditions of ESPN’s own Sunday NFL Countdown here’s a look at this week’s match ups.

STRAIGHT CASH HOMEY (PROJ 121) v NORWEGIAN PLUNDERERS (PROJ 101)

After last week’s thrilling tie, Straight Cash Homey will be looking to utilise some of their bench strength to see of the Plunderers.

After throwing away the win last week by not playing Beanie Wells, Brandon Clark has brought him into his line up this week. However Wells is questionable for Arizona’s trip to Minnesota with a foot injury. Projected to score 14 points, if Clark leaves him in and he doesn’t play the gap immediately closes.

That problem may be underscored by a reduction in carries for Joseph Addai of the Colts. Delone Carter has impressed as back up and may see more of the ball as the Colts aim to kick-start their season against the hapless Chiefs.

Another dilemma is at wide receiver, where Calvin Johnson is a doubt for the Lions game on Monday Night against Chicago.

Also with bye-weeks starting this week, the Homeys have no defense with the Redskins resting up.

The Plunderers hopes seem to entirely rest on the success of the Titans against Pittsburgh. Justin has no fewer than 4 contributors to his team from the Titans. Nate Wahington, Damian Williams, Rob Bironas and the defense all need to perform if the Plunderers are to have a chance.

With Tony Gonzalez brought in this week at Tight End, there is a decision to be made who should take that role, with just one point between the Falcons man and Owen Daniels of Houston. Against a fired up Raiders team following the sad loss of Al Davis, Gonzalez may be the smart pick.

TENNESSEE TITANS (PROJ 63) v TEAM PADAON JR (PROJ 100)

If the real life Titans face a difficult task at Heinz Field against the Steelers, Ricky Adkins Titans look to face an impossible task against Ernesto’s Team Padaon.

Not only has he two players in his line up on a bye week, he has two big starters doubtful with injuries. Rashard Mendenhall has a hamstring injury, which is good news for the real Titans, and Antonio Gates is also doubtful for the Chargers game against the Broncos.

Team Padaon look to have far too much for the Titans, even without a kicker (Billy Cundiff on a bye week) and with a couple of injuries. Roddy White is doubtful with a thigh injury and Vincent Jackson is only probable for the Chargers.

YORKSHIRE TYKES (PROJ 115) v CJ SPORTS (PROJ 98)

With no real injury problems for the Tykes, the only question for their lucky owner (that would be me!) is to sit Josh Freeman, after his game saving performance in last weeks tie with the Homeys, for Michael Vick, who is rated probable for the Eagles with his finger injury.

Also as a Titans fan, should I bring in the Steelers defense from the bench to replace the bye-week Ravens. We’ll see what happens at kick off.

For Sports, the doubts over star running back Adrian Peterson are a worry, although he is rated probable for the Vikings game against the Cardinals. Ryan Matthews is on the bench if  required.

The Sports have a really strong bench, and they have a host of decisions to make. Every offensive position is an either/or choice, and it may be these choices which prove the difference between a win or loss for Sports.

Good Luck to all the teams today, and enjoy the games.
