Titans/Steelers Live Blog Thursday Night!
By Nick Bishop
What up fam! In case you’ve been living under a rock for the past month or so, the NFL season kicks off TOMORROW NIGHT as the Tennessee Titans travel to Pittsburgh to take on the defending Super Bowl champs!!!! I can’t tell you how pumped up we’ve been around here for this re-match. I even went to the Titans Pro Shop today at LP Field and got myself a Chris Johnson jersey. Gotta get fresh for the upcoming season.
The Steelers got all huffy about a few Titans stomping on their little towels during their last meeting, and somehow, this matchup has turned into somewhat of a rivalry. Reminds me of the days of yore when we were once AFC Central foes. It should be one helluva game…
Soooo, in order to celebrate the NFL kickoff, Kellen and I (and hopefully you!) will be live blogging during the game via Cover It Live. All you’ll have to do is come to the site (we’ll probably start between 6:30 and 7:00 PM CT) and you should be able to join the chat right there. We’ve done this before for games, as well as for the NFL draft, and if all goes well tomorrow, we should be doing it a lot more this season. So make sure you join us tomorrow as we kick off the 2009 season (and some Steeler butt) in fine fashion.
In other regional news today, A.I. has (finally) decided to join the Memphis Grizzlies. I know there will be a lot of scrutiny for this signing, but the bottom line is the that this team is not a playoff team (yet) and it is in dire need to at least put some butts in seats. Signing Iverson will certainly do that. The Griz may still be a few years away (hopefully) from courting a contender, but no one will be able to say that they don’t at least play an entertaining brand of basketball.
I also wanted to show you guys what may be one of the best dunks ever. I was going to embed it on the site, but I suggest you just watch the first video, try and figure it out, and then watch the second video. Holy heck is it siiiiick! Thanks to J.E. Skeets at Balls Don’t Lie for digging this one up.
And finally, a little pat on the back to ourselves for getting a mention on The Tennessean’s Titans Insider blog. It ain’t much, but at least we’re on the map. Good lookin’ out to Gary Estwick for the link.
I’m tempted to make a prediction, but I’m not even going to go there now. I think the Titans win though. By at least a field goal. Which I guess that is somewhat of a prediction. Darn you disobedient typing fingers!
That’s all for now Titans fans. We’ll chat with ya’ tomorrow.
