2013 NFL Mock Draft: The Tennessee Titans Select…

Jan 7, 2013; Miami, FL, USA; Alabama Crimson Tide defensive back Dee Milliner (28) breaks up a pass intended for Notre Dame Fighting Irish wide receiver DaVaris Daniels (10) during the second half of the 2013 BCS Championship game at Sun Life Stadium. The pass was intercepted by Alabama defensive back Ha

Fansided has released their Conference Championship edition of their 2013 NFL Mock Draft.  They have a new player for the Tennessee Titans at the 10th spot:

I’m not as sour on this pick as I thought I would be after thinking about it.  If the draft unfolds the way they have it, then this pick could make the most sense.  Chance Warmack is still availbale, but Fansided has him dropping all the way to Jeff Fisher and the Rams at 22.  As much as head coach Mike Munchak has said the offensive line will be addressed, I don’t think he takes a guard at 10th overall either.

In this version, Bjoern Werner, Damontre Moore, and Barkevious Mingo, the three top DE’s are all gone by the time the Titans pick.  There’s still good DTs left, but that need is further down the list for the Titans.  Why not take the first overall at a position that can help.  The Titans play in Nickel coverage on half of there downs and are in a division with Andrew Luck and Andre Johnson.  If  they could move Verner back to nickel and add Milliner on the outside with McCourty, they would have a truly great CB trio.  Not to mention how much the added depth would help, as right now there is a HUGE drop off behind McCourty and Verner.

Maybe having a better man-coverage CB is what Jerry Gray’s scheme is missing?  It would give the defensive line a split second more to get to the QB, and maybe take s a little pressure off our ailing safeties.  Assuming we can address both strong safety and offensive line with free agency and subsequent draft picks, then Milliner actually makes sense.  And I really like the idea of getting the best of any position group regardless of the draft slot.

How do you feel about Milliner?  Good enough for you?

No thank you. Much bigger needs than CB. Unless this guy is super, undoubtedly amazing, I don’t want to hear his name in the conversation. The Titans need a safety badly. That goes a long way towards shoring up this horrid pass defense.

And dangit Werner, don’t you know we need you! That guy just seems to eerily similar to JJ Watt. Lots of drafts have him going to the Jaguars. Can you imagine having to face him and JJ Watt? That would suck. Four games a year we’d have to worry about Locker getting ripped apart.

I know it’s not top of the list at needs, but if all the DE and Warmack/Thompson are gone, what else are you going to do?

Trade back… Or if they force us, accept a CB.

everyone wants to trade back, but the problem is you have to have someone that wants to trade up bad enough. i bet the titans take someone no matter what anyways.
