Tennessee Titans Inching Closer to Top 5 Draft Pick in 2013 NFL Draft

With the Tennessee Titans loss yesterday, they now stand at (4-8), with three of those losses coming from their rivals in the AFC South. That leaves them tied with the (4-8) Cleveland Browns, one ahead of the (3-9) Oakland Raiders only two better than the (2-10) Kansas City Chiefs.

That’s depressing. I can’t believe I’m having to mention this team with these others. They’ve got too much talent to be here. But that’s not a discussion for the purpose of this article.

The Titans are currently positioned to have a top-10 pick in the upcoming 2013 NFL draft. With their remaining games being against the Indianapolis Colts, New York Jets, Green Bay Packers, and the Jacksonville Jaguars, they could be (5-11) or (6-10), or even (4-12) when the draft arrives. I’ll go ahead and say the Chiefs, Raiders, and Jaguars all finish worse than the Titans, but with the way the Titans offense has been under performing, I don’t think there’s many other teams that will be below them… Wait, can’t forget the Eagles.

Okay, so that puts four teams beneath them, leaving the Titans picking at five. Is that a bad thing? Or is it actually a good thing? If memory serves me correctly, the Titans haven’t picked that high since they took Vince Young with the 3rd pick of the 2006 NFL draft. Most of their picks since then have been around the middle of the pack, and have had less success than the Titans had hoped for, save for Chris Johnson.

But, despite that lack of success, I’ve got a good feeling about this one. The Titans past two drafts have been pretty stellar, and more hit than miss.

Draft rankings change daily before the draft, so I’m not going to put any shots in the dark out there yet, but what do you think? Do you have any ideas for who/what the Titans should take with their first pick in the 2013 NFL draft?

If so, please share it. I’m curious as to what player/position people are thinking is worth a top-5 pick.
