Tennessee Titans: Offensive Re-cap vs. Seattle

facebooktwitterreddit

The Tennessee Titans opened the pre-season schedule by travelling up to Washington to take on the Seattle Seahawks. In what was a homecoming of sorts for Matt Hasselbeck and Jake Locker, the Titans came out on the losing end 27-17.

Matt Hasselbeck opened the game with his first pass being intercepted and taken to the house for a pick six. Good thing this was a pre-season game because those plays on the road are absolute dream smashers. For the night, Hasselbeck was 5-9 for 45 yards and two picks.

Locker replaced Hasselbeck with the Titans down 10-0 and led a nice 11 play 79 yard drive that ended in a field goal. The team just seems to move at a different tempo with Locker in the game. Its almost like they get a shot of adrenaline when he plays. Locker finished 7-13 for 80 yards.

After the game, Munchak said that Locker has closed the gap in the QB battle.

Munchak has already declared Locker the starter against Tampa Bay this week and I’ll go ahead and say it….if he plays well, you are looking at the franchise QB opening the season as our starter. Even if he doesn’t play well, it’s his job to lose.

CJ started the 2012 season the way he started the 2011…..not good. Please, don’t get crazy now, 5 carries for 8 yards and a couple dropped passes doesn’t mean he’s lost it. Yes, they’re not the best stats at all but its only pre season game one. Let’s see how he looks in pre season game 3.

Kendall Wright is the real deal! He wants the ball, he’s very athletic, and he has great game speed. What I really like about Wright is that he plucks the ball out of the air. He doesn’t wait for it to get to him. He’s going to be a good one.

Offensive star: Darius Reynaud, returned a punt for a TD and also had a 21 yard scamper for a TD in the second half. He’s playing in a very crowded backfield but that can only help.

Overall, it was the first pre-season game and the Titans didn’t show much offensively. I imagine that they will show a little more against the Bucs though. The offensive line will take a little time to jell so be sure to watch and see how they play against the Bucs.
